Automotive Aftermarket requires car components to replace original parts produced by OEMs when they become worn or damaged. These equivalent components must work as the original ones, but they are usually designed and produced in a different way. This job is often carried out without the help of the original component specification and reverse engineering is needed to study its behavior.
Design a water pump for automotive after-marker covering a series of OEM’s pumps that differ for power, behavior and interface. The customer requests an innovative mechatronic solution with tight mechanical constraints and a configurable software.
EMA Global studied the functionality of the OEM components performing specific tests to understand their behavior in normal and recovery modes. We produced a specification and codesigned the new solution providing DFMEA, thermal simulation and HW/SW development.
